The Perth Assay Laboratory is Kalassay's most specialised laboratory and the company's administrative base.

Located just off Great Eastern Highway in Midvale, P.A.L. boasts some of the most advanced analytical equipment in Western Australia.

Major investment in cutting-edge technologies has equipped this laboratory to cater for mining and exploration companies pursuing Iron Ore, Gold, Nickel, Uranium, Silver, Tantalum, Mineral Sands and Rare Earths.

With a focus on specialised analysis, Kalassay's Perth Assay Laboratory is equipped with the latest generation ICP-MS, ICP-OES and XRF instruments.

Kalassay's cutting-edge, fully-automated K-FAX System performs XRF Fusion and Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis of Iron Ores with minimal human intervention, except in the Q.A. / Q.C and authorisation of results. K-FAX Information
The Instrumental analysis side of this system is provided by three sequential XRF Instruments, providing speedy, accurate analysis.

All our XRF and XRD analysis is managed by Dr Sharon Ness, who previously was a long-standing consultant to Kalassay, in her role as the head of The James Cook University Advanced Analytical Centre in Townsville.
Sharon joined the staff at Kalassay in November 2006 and has been involved in XRF and XRD analysis more more than 20 years.

Analysis at the ppm, ppb and even ppt levels can now be done efficiently and promptly by using Kalassay's ICP-MS and ICP-OES instruments.
The Perth Assay Laboratory is equipped with Three ICP-MS instruments and two ICP-OES instruments.
Our ICP section is managed Dr Zongshou Yu, who has a wealth of experience in this type of instrumental analysis, having been involved in commercial and research laboratories in Australia for a number of years..

Kevin Bride Kalgoorlie Laboratory Manager kevin.bride@assay.com.au     Kevin is a highly-capable, highly-experienced analyst and has been intimately involved with the development, operation and management of analytical laboratories over a period of twenty years. He has extensive experience in Gold, Nickel and Base Metals at low-level to grade control concentrations. During this time, he has performed just about every role within the analytical industry and Kevin applies his experience to running a very complex and busy workplace. Back to top

Dr Zongshou Yu PhD (AnalChem) ICP Instrumentation Manager Zongshou, our ICP specialist, has gained wide-ranging experience in the geological and analytical fields in China and Australia, both on a professional and academic level since 1979. Zongshou’s PhD project at University of Tasmania involved development and application of ICP mass spectrometric techniques for measuring trace elements and isotope ratios in geological materials. He has published 9 peer-reviewed papers in the field of analytical chemistry. Publications List. He trained over 30 ICP-MS operation chemists in Australia and the Asia Pacific region between 2002 and 2003 when he worked with Murdoch University. Dr Sharon Ness PhD (Chemistry) XRF / XRD Analysis Specialist Dr Ness joined Kalassay in late 2006. Previously, Sharon was closely been involved with Kalassay's X-Ray Analytical work for over six years, in her role at The Advanced Analytical Centre, at James Cook University in Townsville. Dr Ness assisted Kalassay with the development of our XRF methods as a consultant, during her time as the Director of The Advanced Analytical Centre at James Cook University in Townsville. Sharon is highly-credentialled and highly-experienced in XRF and XRD Analysis and is a member of the Australian Standards SG9 Study Group, which is researching and refining methods for Iron Ore Analysis. sharon.ness@assay.com.au   Back to top
